Planning to stay in the city this weekend? If you are ready to make the best of where you live at, with FREE or very affordable options, this is a great place to start. Here at Savewallets we love a great urban day, filled with adventurous and news sensations. And we are here to tell you that you don’t need to spend your month’s savings to get that.
We’ve put together a new list with some unusual options around the city: from an amazing forest, to charity shops. Ready? Let’s get started!
1.The Museum of London
This museum is not part of the usual “must-see” London museum list. Honestly, we don’t know why. Its permanent exhibition documents the story of the city since prehistory, to the Romans, to an exciting recreation of the 1666, to our own days. Plus, there are always amazing special exhibits to wonder around too. Admission? Free! Daily from 10am to 6pm. Check out the details to plan your visit here.
These are part of the Londoner culture. Charity shops are great spots to find vintage and designer stuff for very, very affordable prices. Plus, they are a good option to support your charity of choice. You can find them all over the city, and each of them has its own personality. This updated list by the Evening Standard is a great way to start mapping them out: from Dalston to West Hampstead, Marylebone to Pimlico. Go get yourself a nice vintage affordable new gown!
3.Greenwich it up!
Just a tube or DLR trip away, this is a truly amazing spot in the city, often overlooked. Treat yourself to an amazing view of the city from the top of Greenwich Park. Take a look at the Greenwich Observatory (you do need to pay to get in), visit the impressive National Maritime Museum (for free), or take a walk around Greenwich’s beautiful streets. Bonus: if it’s a nice day, take the Thames Clipper from Westminster to add some Thames-vibes to the visit. It really does feel like a day-trip outside the city.
This extensive special area of conservation will blow your mind. Head over to the forest for a trek, to unwind or to have a nice picnic with your friends. And: it’s only a tube ride away. Give Epping a chance, you can thank us later.
5.Affordable movie tickets
Yes, we know. Going to the cinema in London is not a decision to take lightly. The prices can be really high. But… where there’s a will, there’s a way! Check out this list by Londonist of the picture houses and details where to get affordable tickets, each day of the week. Not to be missed.
